A Championship Band based in the heart of the Royal Forest of Dean
Lydbrook Band was formed in 1923 from three smaller bands in the village and it was known as the Lydbrook Reed & Brass Band. Today the band is one of the most successful in the country and performs locally, nationally and on the international stage. In addition to our main band, we have a separate training band.
We have over 30 members in our main band and about 20-25 players, ranging in age from 8 to 70 in our training band. No-one is ever turned away and no-one is ever too old to learn. We meet in the Lydbrook bandroom on Wednesdays at 19.45 and on Sundays at 18.30. The training band meets on Monday at 18.30.
Like many community bands, Lydbrook has been fortunate to have some great fund raisers on their committee. The hard working non-players have raised many thousands of pounds for band funds over the years. This has enabled the band to build its own bandroom and buy new uniforms and instruments for the senior and training band.
The band is pleased to be sponsored by Forest of Dean Stone Firms Ltd and has performed in their Barnhill Quarry.
