Members’ meeting and AGM at Chase Hotel
On Thursday 23 March we held a meeting and our AGM at The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye. This was the first time that we have held a meeting in the Chase Hotel and it was a great success with over 100 people attending, the most we have ever had at a meeting. The meeting had two strands: an attractions and activities showcase and our Annual General Meeting. Full details of the meeting are on a members’ website, including the minutes of the AGM and details of the directors newly elected.
Many thanks to Colin and Deborah at the Chase for the venue, tea and coffee and some great cakes.
Date for your diary
Our next members’ meeting takes place on Wednesday 14 June 2017, 18.00 to 20.00 at Goodrich Castle. We hope to see lots of you there for this summer evening meeting at a superb location – the first time we have held a meeting there.
Forest Activities Festival – Promote WVFDTA and you own business this Sunday
The Association has a stand at this Sunday’s Forest Activities Festival at Speech House and would like some assistance in manning it from 3pm to 5pm. Is anyone able to do an hour or so, talking about WVFDT and handing out brochures? Of course you can promote your own business at the same time too! If you can help please contact firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible so we can get your name on the Exhibitor List!
Opportunity for Welsh Producers (and #DeanWye attractions and activities
We have been offered the opportunity to have a FREE stand at the GREEN MAN SHOW in LONDON on 25-29 May. This is a great opportunity to showcase our WELSH producers and our Welsh Partners, in the main, however, it does not exclude our English members who may want to support us in promoting the area in general, we will NOT however, be able to promote English food and drink producers. We will be setting up a general tourism display on the DeanWye stand on the Thursday and then the stand will be ready for ANY Welsh producer to attend, to promote their business and to also sell the delights of the DeanWye; there will be brochures and information on the area available as well as our pop up banners. We are able to cover the cost of accommodation for 2 people (twin room which is already booked) but NOT travel costs or other expenses. The stand area is FREE for any producer to promote and potentially sell their products.
Please contact email@example.com urgently if you want your Welsh produce showcased or you would like to assist in manning the stand.
Wales Tourism Weeks
You will be aware that we encourage members to put on special offers or events to coincide with the annual tourism weeks to highlight our industry and raise its profile both locally and nationally. Look at the exitsing offers and send us your ideas for offers and events and we will promote them – send to firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to their normal listings, some members use banner adverts on our website to further promote their business. There are opportunities to advertise on both the home page and the inside pages with prices starting from £100 for a 12-month period. Adverts are randomly selected from all those available and when an advert is clicked, the user is taken to directly to the member’s own website, rather than their page on our site. It is important to us to have figures about the numbers of visitors to our area, their spend and the total value of tourism to our economy. Please help us collect this data. Every month I send you a link to a quick survey (see below), it costs you nothing and if you complete it you will receive a monthly report on how business is in the region, for your sector and other FAB information. I need you to fill it in regularly too, so that I have a clear picture of how we are doing and what we feel the next months are looking like, so that when I am on the radio, I have great facts to refer to. PLEASE TAKE PART! 69% of businesses in DEVON complete this, only 8% in our area! All businesses, irrespective of their county should do this.
We are now collecting data for the MARCH 2017 South West ‘How’s Business?’ Survey and it would be great if you could enter your data at:
Upon submitting their data, and as a thank you for taking part, participants will be re-directed to the full report for the previous month. The deadline for completions is Friday 28 April 2017.
