We launched an updated version of our website last weekend which has a new clean modern design and is also suitable for use on mobile devices since more than half of web enquiries are now from phones or tables. If you have not yet done so, please check your web page to ensure that it is correct. The pictures are likely to be something every member needs to address. Your images are four times larger than previously and the quality may appear poor as they are being generated from the lower resolution pictures that we held on the old site. If you were one of the 130 people who attended our Tourism Forum last week, we hope you enjoyed it. If you weren’t there you missed interesting and stimulating event as well as a good day out. A number of national champions shared their views of tourism as well as praising the area and the work done by members and your Association to raise its profile. Full report.
For most members the annual renewal date of membership is the start of the year and renewal notices were sent out mid-December for payment on January 1st. The good news is that well over half our members have now paid. If you have not yet paid, we would appreciate prompt settlement. I know that many businesses are interested in a) developing apprentices for their businesses solely, b) for sharing an apprentice and c) finding out a bit more. I also know that perhaps some of the costings were prohibitive and the suggested organisation of the new programme a little confusing – so I am suggesting a meeting between interested parties (with NO obligation) so that we can discuss the options and see if we can develop a clear way forward. If you wanted to find out more, or explore the options PLEASE do come to a meeting on Thursday 26 January between 1130 – 1330 where we can have a proper session to plan this and take it forward in whatever way will work best for your business. The 2017 edition of the Visitor Guide has now been published. If you want copies for your business they can be ordered from Glide Media who will deliver them free of charge. You can advise your customers to request a copy to be posted or it can be downloaded. Accommodation providers can also download a copy with all the editorial and adverts for things to and places to eat but not the accommodation.
It’s never too early to tell us about events that you have planned in the next few months, or even way ahead. In particular we want to know about half term, Valentines Day, Mothering Sunday and Easter. Send details of all events to firstname.lastname@example.org. We have a picture library with a large number of high quality images that you are free to use. However, we are always looking for more pictures and we encourage members to submit pictures for the library. In particular we are looking for good pictures of our towns and villages, restaurants and pubs. If you do have pictures that you think are suitable please contact us. Coleford Twinning Association are looking for up to 6 seasonal employment opportunities for young adults from St Hilaire de Riez this summer. The placement should be for a minimum of 4 weeks, and to allow the visitors to cover all of their travel, accommodation and living expenses there is an earnings expectation of around £800 for the month. Tourism funds for Welsh businesses
Applications are invited from the tourism industry for two funding pots, totaling around £2.5 million over two year. Both funds are open for applications for innovative and high quality projects. The closing date for the first round of applications is Friday 24th February. Further details.
