Monmouth and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce is committed to representing the interests of businesses in the Monmouth and District area and to support and encourage the future prosperity of those businesses. We aim to promote and encourage the development of commercial enterprise within Monmouth and its surrounding area; to structure mutual confidence and understanding between enterprises; to develop relations between those enterprises and the public at large, and to present a collective voice to government bodies and agencies.
Membership costs £60 per annum from May 1st. For new members with businesses of 3 or fewer branches , we offer membership for just £40 for the first year.
Monmouth has a Buy Local campaign to encourage everyone to support local business. The campaign was initiated by the Chamber of Commerce which provided seed funding and is supported by many local businesses, the Town Council and the County Council. It is led by a team of committed business people including Transition Monmouth.
MDCTC also supports the Monmouthpedia Project which is the first Wikipedia project to cover a whole town. The project aims to cover every single notable place, people, artefacts, flora, fauna and other things in Monmouth in as many languages as possible, but with a special focus on Welsh.
“As a new business start-up and now established nearly 4 years, I needed to know what was happening locally that might affect my business and MDCTC has done just that. MDCTC is a local business forum highlighting local issues and working to resolve these at Town AND County level. In times of local government cut-backs it is vital that local businesses are not burdened with paying more for less and MDCTC has been THE voice reasoning and negotiating with county hall – well done and thank you MDCTC.”
